Overview
Pickup is around 04:30, which sounds brutal and is worth it. You reach the launch site in the dark, watch the envelopes inflate, and lift off as the horizon starts to go orange. From 1,200 metres the dunes read as long parallel ridges and you can pick out oryx and gazelle moving below — the flight crosses a protected conservation reserve, so the wildlife is genuinely wild. Landing is followed by a falconry display and breakfast. Flights are weather-dependent and cancelled outright if wind is wrong.
