Overview
This one crosses the country. You leave Dubai on the Gulf side and come out on the Indian Ocean, and the road between goes through the Hajar mountains rather than around them. Khor Fakkan itself has a proper crescent beach and an amphitheatre with a waterfall built into the hillside behind it. On the way you stop at Al Rafisah Dam, and at Al Bidyah — the oldest mosque in the country, built from mud and stone and still in use. It is a long day and the scenery justifies it.
